Dr. Chartock is married to Dr. Roselle Kline Chartock, a professor of education at the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts in North Adams who has edited a widely acclaimed book on the Holocaust. The Chartocks live in Great Barrington, Massachusetts, and have two children, Jonas and Sarah.
Alan and Roselle's son, Jonas Chartock, is the Executive Director of the State University of New York Charter Schools Institute, and lives in Albany, NY. The Albany Times Union recently sat down with Jonas to talk about the importance of charter schools and the purpose of the SUNY institute.
Sarah Chartock is an Assistant Professor of Comparative Politics at The College of New Jersey, and lives in New York City. When Sarah recieved her doctorate in 2008, her proud father, Alan, wrote about the "cycle of learning" in his weekly I Publius article for the Berkshire Eagle.
